I grew up in the northeast, in Boston,Massachusetts. At 19 years old, I started a small retail jewelry business, and within a few years, I had four busy and successful retail jewelry stores. But then, one fateful four degree January day, I came to Fort Lauderdale, from a cold, depressing, grey Boston winter day, to warm, beautiful and sunny Fort Lauderdale on vacation, and I was instantly hooked and in love--with the weather, the beauty of the area, the close proximity of this spectacular ocean, and with the whole casual, easy feeling of life in South Florida.
For many years, I had to be content with commuting back and forth on vacations, but eventually (many, many years later) I sold my businesses, and finally, happily relocated permanently here in South Florida. For a while, I bought, renovated, and resold real estate on my own. But I always had a feeling that I wanted to be more closely involved with working with and helping people in the real estate business, as I had been with my jewelry stores for 25 years. For me, the most satisfying aspect of my business had always been my close relationships over the years with so many of my numerous long time clients, especially on happy occaisions: buying their wives diamond earrings for a birthday, or custom designing something unique and special for them for Christmas, or helping someone choose an engagement ring. I was honored to be chosen to help and be involved with so many people with their decisions and purchases for so many personal, intimate and special occaisions over so many years.
So I went to real estate school, and I got my real estate license here in Florida, with the idea of helping people get through what is a very personal, exciting, challenging, stressful, and, eventually, happy time: buying or selling a home. I thought showing someone a diamond ring that we had designed together was wonderful: handing over the keys to a new home is a feeling that is just as fantastic and thrilling.
Sometime later( in 1999), I had a tremendous opportunity to partner up with a top producer (and very close friend) in real estate in Los Angeles--so, ready for a change and a new challenge, I moved to California for several years, got my real estate license there, and very successfully sold real estate there. It was wonderful, and beautiful, and incredibly exciting, a fantastic experience for me, but alas---the call of the tropics and this spectacular ocean setting was too strong. I missed this beautiful place every single day, so I returned to Fort Lauderdale and resumed selling real estate here. I will never, ever leave this little paradise again. I honestly believe that no other place can offer what South Florida has to offer.
